The annual rivalry game between the Oregon Ducks and Oregon Beavers is set for Saturday, November 26th at Autzen Stadium.
This annual rivalry game began back in 1894 and has been played 114 times so far. The University of Oregon has the distinction of winning the most games 57-46-10. This annual contest is also referred to as the “Civil War” which makes it a fun event for all involved.
In even numbered years, the game is played at Oregon State University in Corvallis at the Reser Stadium. In odd numbered years, it is played at the University of Oregon in Eugene at Autzen Stadium. There were actually riots after the 1910 game so the game was played in a neutral site (Albany) in 1912 and 1913.
During the years of 1997 thru 2006 the home team always won the game. The good luck for the home team stopped abruptly when Oregon State beat the University of Oregon in 2007 in double overtime. In 2008, the Ducks came back strong and won in Corvallis when they beat Oregon State 65-38. This trend was ended in 2009 when the Ducks beat the Beavers 37-33 at home in Eugene. Now you know why this game is such a big deal!
