The Commissioner’s Trophy is within reach by both the Detroit Tigers, who won the American League, and the San Francisco Giants who ruled the National League. The Tigers won the right to play for the World Series by beating Oakland Athletics in ALDS and sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALCS. On the other hand, the Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals in NLDS and NLCS respectively. Game One belonged to the Giants but the Tigers are not backing down.
