The Dead Can Dance will be coming to the Beacon Theatre in New York City for a two night gig on August 29th and August 30th. There has been an incredible interest in their upcoming concert since it has been a very long time since they have performed in North America.
Loyal fans refer to Dead Can Dance as DCD and they were put together in Melbourne, Australia more than 30 years ago. Members are Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry. This band ended up relocating from Australia to London in 1982 and sadly they disbanded in 1998. Their album “Spiritchaser” which was released in 1996 reached the Number 1 slot on the Billboard Top World Music Albums Chart.
Well known Austrialian music historian, Ian McFarlane, had these kind words to say about Dead Can Dance, “constructed soundscapes of mesmerising grandeur and solemn beauty…with African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chants, Middle Eastern mantras, and art-rock.” This quote says alot about this interesting band. Don’t miss them in concert in NYC at the Beacon Theatre.
